Ok, I got it
This is my lamp made from a wooden wine box (single bottle size)
Both sides have the flame design cut out.
This design looks very good with candles instead of a bulb
and as its tall, and the heat can escape, it should be ok.
This is a lamp I am working on at the moment.
It has flame cut-outs on the top as well.

As this lamp is long-ways (not tall) candles wont be a good idea in it,
but a nice low volt light will look good.
I was thinking of small LEDs but I'm not sure how I would do that.

It is a work in progress

The lamps have flat sides so can easily be fixed to a wall...and can even be painted the same colour as the wall.

The dimensions of both lamps are (H x W x D)
35cm x 10cm x10cm (13.8 x 3.9 x 3.9 inches)
The fronts slide out to gain access to the bulb.

Ok I went with 20 clear christmas lights in the end.
